Scarborough Art is an exciting event taking place between Saturday 5 July and Sunday 3 August 2025 at various venues across Scarborough town centre and beyond. It is an opportunity to visit different places and spaces around the area and discover work from across the creative community.

Artwork of a wide range of media will be showcased from paintings and sculpture to photography and printmaking. This event is perfect for art lovers of all ages to enjoy a day filled with creativity and inspiration. Come and celebrate the rich artistic heritage of Scarborough and find the hidden gems waiting to be uncovered. As well as exhibitions, several artists and makers across the town will be hosting workshops for visitors to take part in and create art of their own.

THIN PLACES

There are places that we feel peaceful, closer to 'God'. In Celtic Christianity they are often called 'Thin Places'. I have been developing my work, with this idea in mind, wondering if art itself could be seen as a 'thin place', a portal of sorts. Combining this with the idea of places and times of transition and change I am hoping to make pieces of work that resonate with this universal experience.

I have been working with new imagery and working in a far more experimental way, using cold wax and collaged print. It is a wonderful journey that I feel only to be at the beginning of.

ADVENTURES IN PRINTMAKING

Through a bursary from Scarborough Art, I will be hosting a series of accessible sessions at a reduced rate of £5. They are designed to help you to release your inner artist and open up a wild journey into printmaking, using items easily available at home. An old pasta making machine, wrapping paper, letters, maps, various recycled materials. We will try nature printing, making print plates from recycled materials, and also incorporate collage and your own marks. Freedom to explore at your own pace and in your own way is encouraged.

BEEFORTHS HIVE

Beeforth's Hive is a community space in South Cliff Gardens. It is a small venue suitable for a variety of events including workshops, talks and performance. Facilities include a kitchenet with sink and kettle, an accessible toilet and one disabled parking space. There is free on street parking on the Esplanade a short walk away.
